Earlier in the year, Gala Bingo announced that they would be backing Barack Obama for the vote and in theme with this, were teaming up with Obama’s step mother, Kezia Obama to create a Obama Bingo fuelled promotion!

Leading up to the promotion itself, players could see pictures of Kezia driving off in a Gala Bingo emblazoned car, playing bingo in a Gala Bingo hall and sitting behind a bright Gala designed laptop playing with the hundreds of players that were taking part in bingo games online. A self confessed online bingo fan, Kezia Obama said that she and Gala Bingo were going to be dedicating 10 days to raising money for the Sue Ryder Care charity.

They did this by opening a room named Mrs Obama’s Bingo room within the Gala Bingo lobby, and this room was open for an hour every day for 10 days. The room was full of cheap bingo tickets and staggering jackpots and players flocked to the unique bingo room to spend their cash, knowing it was going to a good cause.

At the end of the 7 days, after GalaBingo and players had pledged thousands of pounds, Obama Bingo announced that they had made over £2000 per day and raised a staggering £20,000 for Sue Ryder Care.

Gala Bingo recently announced that they had a goal to raise £1million for this said charity by 2010 and say that creating bingo games online at Obama Bingo was just one of the angles they were going for in order to reach this inspirational goal.

Gala Bingo is a fantastic bingo site that looks after its loyal players and the community as a whole. Gala are always coming up with exciting bingo games to raise money for their favourite charity which is the Sue Ryder Care charity. Gala aim to raise a whopping £1million by 2010 and they are well on their way to achieving this. Earlier in 2009 to celebrate the fact that the United States where getting a new black president, Barack Obama, Gala launched a brand new bingo promotion called Obama Bingo.

Gala teamed up with Mr Obama’s step mother, Mrs Kezia Obama to help raise money for the Sue Ryder Care.
The promotion started on February 23rd and ran until the 1st March. The game were played in the City Room every night between 8pm and 9pm. For every £1 that a player spent on the game, 10p was donated to the charity.

Mrs Obama is a keen bingo player and plays at her local bingo club as much as she can. She grew up in Kenya but relocated to the United Kingdom to be near her daughter. During the Obama Bingo promotion a whopping £10,000 was raised and Gala doubled the amount in good faith to £20,000. The chairperson of Gala Bingo and Mrs Obama, presented a cheque for £20,000 to the chairperson of Sue Ryder at one of their hospices in Henley-on-Thames.

Gala bingo continue to strive to raise more money for their favourite charity with more inventive bingo games. Obama Bingo certainly proved to be a huge hit with its loyal bingo players and they raised a huge amount for a well deserved charity.
