Last year, Gala Bingo announced that they would be teaming up with Barack Obama’s step mother Keiza Obama to raise money for Sue Ryder Care with the help of bingo.

Weeks before the special bingo event took place, Keiza was pictured in a Gala Bingo branded car and chatting to players on a bright yellow Gala Bingo laptop and sitting in a Gala Bingo club and all of these quirky and exciting pictures were posted as teasers for the day on which the 10 days of Obama Bingo would commence.

Obama Bingo kicked off on 23rd February, 2009 at 8pm where the special bingo room named ‘Mrs Obama’s Bingo’ opened for just one hour per night for 10 days straight. Gala Bingo promised that every £1 spent in any of Mrs Obama’s Bingo room would result in Gala themselves donating 10p of their own cash to Sue Ryder Care.

People flocked to the special Obama Bingo room to spend their hard earned cash, safe in the knowledge that their bingo cash was going to make a difference. At the end of the 10 days, Gala Bingo announced that together with Keiza Obama’s help towards raising awareness and the collective help of the players, £10,000 had been raised for Sue Ryder Care, working out under £1000 raised every day during the promotional time.

At the start of the promotion, Gala Bingo promised that they would double whatever their faithful players raised, which brought the total to a massive £20,000.
